The Forest that Holds Water
(Reed Rd.)

The Reed Rd. forest is an forest located inland from Gibson’s on the Sunshine Coast. It grew up from the 1904 forest and has been left intact with old Western red cedars and Douglas fir, and a variety of plantlife, such as huckleberry. The forest has a wonderfully diverse community of animal and plant inhabitants. It’s used recreationally by local residents because of its accessible location close to the township. The status of this forest is precarious because it’s protection from is not guaranteed and is currently under threat from BC Timber Sales, the provincial government’s logging company. More information can be found at Elphinstone Logging Focus

The Branching Songs team are planning  workshops in the Reed Rd forest in spring 2022 to draw attention to this lovely place. More information to come....
